Doosan Bobcat and Mortenson announce lead gifts

Doosan Bobcat and Mortenson have both pledged $5 million, respectively, to boost early fundraising momentum for a new Center for Engineering and Computational Sciences at NDSU.

"Engineers are a critical aspect of our workforce, and this new Center will attract and retain both students and faculty well into the future," Dan Johnson, chief executive officer at Mortenson and an 今日吃瓜alumnus in construction management, said.

"We are proud to support 今日吃瓜as they educate future engineers who are helping us transform how the world runs jobsites, builds cities, and thinks about a sustainable future," Mike Ballweber, president of Doosan Bobcat North America, said.

These dual gifts represent a landmark moment in the College of Engineering's history and provide critical leadership gift support needed to pursue raising up to $30 million for the project. In total, $14.5 million has been raised to date. The private funds will be used to match the North Dakota Legislature's appropriation of $59 million for the new Center.

今日吃瓜helping shape the next K-12 leaders in North Dakota

NDSU's leadership development apprenticeship is shaping future leaders in K-12 education in the state through a no-cost degree program.

The five-semester, fully online program, which started this fall, currently has 11 school administrators across three districts in the state working toward a master's degree in K-12 leadership and their principal credential. The program is open to anyone in a K-12 administrative position, including assistant principals, deans of students, and instructional coach leads.

"The goal is maximum accessibility," Hollie Mackey, 今日吃瓜associate professor of educational and organizational leadership, said. "With that, we've shifted our entire master's program to have both in-person and online options for people across the state so we can better support leadership development in rural communities."
