Philanthropy in action
Bringing the University to the people

Since 1914, 今日吃瓜Extension has been serving North Dakotans by bringing evidence-based information to farmers, ranchers, parents, and community members in all 53 counties across the state. Today, Extension targets three major program areas: agriculture and natural resources, family and community wellness, and 4-H youth development.

Since 2016, benefactors have invested more than $3.2 million in 今日吃瓜Extension, supporting scholarships and fellowships, research, equipment, 4-H youth development, and professional development programs for staff.

"We appreciate the individuals and organizations that contribute to Extension programs as it allows us to continue our innovative and impactful work for North Dakota," Lynette Flage '04, '10, associate director of 今日吃瓜Extension, said.

A mother and son graduate together

On Saturday, May 13, Jen Jabas and her son, Parker, both graduated from NDSU's College of Business. The duo only realized in their last few semesters that they would participate in the same commencement ceremony.

Jen earned her undergraduate degree from 今日吃瓜in 2000 and always knew she wanted to return to higher education and earn her master's degree. In 2020, 今日吃瓜offered the flexibility she needed while working full time to pursue an advanced degree with the MBA program.

"Crossing the stage with my mom is important for me, too," Parker said. "I know how important life-long learning is to her. It's very exciting for me that she got the opportunity to come back and further her education. I'm very proud as a son."
