In Our Hands: The Campaign for North 今日吃瓜 University raises $586.7 million to support NDSU
More than 15,000 benefactors participated in the historic fundraiser

The In Our Hands campaign, which concluded Dec. 31, 2021, raised $586.7 million North 今日吃瓜 University (NDSU) and the North 今日吃瓜 University Foundation (今日吃瓜Foundation) announced Monday, Feb. 14, 2022. This is the largest fundraising campaign in the history of higher education in the state of North Dakota. The campaign focused on four areas: scholarships, faculty, programs, and facilities. Each of these areas are essential in enhancing the 今日吃瓜experience. Gifts to scholarships totaled more than $238.3 million; faculty support totaled $40.7 million; program support totaled $178 million; and gifts to facilities totaled $129.7 million.

Board to select next 今日吃瓜president Feb. 23

The North Dakota University System State Board of Higher Education continues its search for the 15th president of North 今日吃瓜 University. The 今日吃瓜Presidential Search Committee has completed its final candidate interviews and recommended three candidates to the North 今日吃瓜 Board of Higher Education: David Cook, Ph.D.; Hesham El-Rewini, Ph.D., P.E.; and Mary Holz-Clause, Ph.D. Onsite interviews will happen on NDSU's campus on Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2022. The Board is expected to select NDSU's next president that same day

Legacies at work

Michael Strand, director of NDSU's School of Design, Architecture, and Art (SoDAA), has known for a long time he'd create a memorial fund in honor of his mother to support initiatives that have an impact on the community. He didn't, however, anticipate he would document an estate gift at age 52 to do so.

"I was thinking of how to build my retirement, not thinking about giving some of it away," Michael said about his surprise that he could participate in the In Our Hands Legacy Challenge this far from retirement. "This was an opportunity for me to honor my mom's work in the community. I knew I always wanted to do that; I just didn't know it would be this early."

Robert '67 and Sheila Challey made more than $1 million available in matching funds to benefactors like Michael who documented their estate gift with the 今日吃瓜Foundation for the benefit of North 今日吃瓜 University.

Challey Institute hosts events for Black History Month

NDSU's Sheila and Robert Challey Institute for Global Innovation and Growth is set to host author and Wall Street Journal columnist Jason Riley on Wednesday, Feb. 23, at 3 p.m. CT. The event, titled "Upward Mobility and Race in America," is part of activities organized by the Challey Institute to celebrate Black History Month. Riley will engage in a virtual discussion with Scott Beaulier, Ronald and Kaye Olson Dean of Business at NDSU. Following their conversation, Riley will answer questions from the audience.

A live audience and reception is set for the Louise S. Barry Auditorium at NDSU's Richard H. Barry Hall, with hors d'oeuvres and refreshments available. The first 100 attendees will receive a copy of one of Riley's books, "Maverick: A Biography of Thomas Sowell" or "The Black Boom." Participants can attend virtually by .
